- Most importantly, this interface program serves for entry of new data.
- Two options are provided:
Site Coordinates:
- Exact coordinates of collection sites are part of this inventory.
- We expect GPS readings to be checked by displaying point locations on a topographic map.
- If you do not have a GPS, marking the collection site on the map and reading off coordinates is acceptable.
- GPS instructions are available at Guidelines for Collecting GPS Data.
- Park maps are
available at Quad Maps of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
- If you do not have software for easy map display and coordinate editing, free software is available on CD to researchers with collecting
permit in the Park at NPS Research Permit and Reporting System.
- A tutorial is available for this mapping program - validating_coordinates.pdf (514 KB).
- If you do not have software for easy map display and coordinate editing, free software is available on CD to researchers with collecting
permit in the Park at NPS Research Permit and Reporting System.
Submitting Data:
- If you use our interface program to enter new data, you can ship us the data file ATBI_data.mdb (or renamed) either
zipped as an e-mail attachment to Michael_Kunze@nps.gov, or simply copied on CD by mail.
