Park Road Map

Twin Creeks Natural Resource Center - Map & Information:

  • Enter Gatlinburg on US 441 and come to stoplight #8, which is called Historic Nature Trail or Airport Rd.
  • Turn (only one way to turn) and drive about 1/2 mile, going past the Mills auditorium and the hotels to a four-way intersection.
  • Don’t go up the hill. Stay straight, along the creek, on Cherokee Orchard Rd. toward the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail.
  • Go past Mynatt Park and in approximately 1 1/2 miles turn right at the brown sign for Twin Creeks.
  • Come a few hundred yards down the lane and across the little bridge.
  • Turn left for the main office at the upper building or right for the DLIA office at the Horse Barn.

Greenbrier Field Station - University of Tennessee - Map & Information:

  • Located off Hwy. 321 near the Greenbrier entrance to the Park.
  • Please make prior arrangements with the University of Tennessee to use these facilities for lab or lodging.

Purchase Knob Appalachian Highlands Learning Center - Map & Information:

  • Please see separate directions and map for the Purchase area.
  • It is at the far southeastern edge of the Park, off of Highway 276 near Waynesville, NC.
  • The house will be undergoing construction during 2005.
  • Camping, bathrooms and laboratory space is available if reservations are made in advance.

Tremont - Great Smoky Mountains Institute - Map & Information:

  • The Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont is located on the southwestern side of the Park.
